Training
Hands-on flood warning training for council teams.
Classroom theory, then real stations
We’ve delivered hands-on flood warning site maintenance workshops for Queensland council technicians through the Australian Hydrographers Association, on behalf of the Bureau of Meteorology. Each workshop pairs classroom theory with practical work at live flood warning stations.
Your team learns how the network fits together, how to look after a station safely and properly, and how to spot the faults that stop warnings reaching the people who need them. We also run tailored sessions for individual councils built around the equipment in their own network.
What we cover
- How flood warning networks work, from sensor to base station
- Rainfall stations: calibration, cleaning and common faults
- Water level: bubblers, pressure sensors and datum checks
- Power and telemetry checks, including ALERT radio
- Safe site access and work practices
- Recording results and reporting faults
- Practical sessions at live stations
