Flood Gauge Installation
New flood warning stations, from site selection to handover.
One team, from bare ground to live data
We design, build and commission complete flood warning stations for Queensland councils and the Bureau of Meteorology’s flood warning network. One team looks after the site work, the electronics and the paperwork, so the station reports correctly from the day it goes live.
Every station is tested end-to-end before we leave site: sensor, logger, radio and base station. Level sensors are checked across their full range with a traceable pressure calibrator, rain gauges are field-calibrated, and power and telemetry are load-tested. You get a commissioning report with the results, calibration certificates, survey data and a map of as-built services.
What we deliver
- Site selection and access checks with council and landholders
- Radio path modelling and field testing for ALERT and cellular links
- Civil works: excavation, reinforced foundations, conduit and orifice runs
- Towers, enclosures, solar and lithium (LiFePO4) power systems
- Water level (bubbler or pressure), rain gauge, logger and telemetry
- AHD survey of sensor zero and permanent survey marks
- Site acceptance testing, calibration certificates and as-built records

Project snapshot
New flood warning station, South East Queensland (2025)
Delivered for a South East Queensland council as part of the Queensland flood warning infrastructure (FWIN) upgrade program. The nominated location proved unsuitable once we walked it (swampy access, private land and overhead powerlines), so we assessed alternatives with council staff and confirmed a better site. Radio path modelling and field testing proved a reliable ALERT link before any concrete was poured.
| Structure | 4.5 m tower on a reinforced concrete foundation |
| Power | 160 W solar, 50 Ah LiFePO4 battery |
| Water level | Bubbler with 21 m pressure sensor |
| Rainfall | 0.2 mm tipping-bucket gauge, factory calibrated |
| Telemetry | ALERT radio, 151.5 MHz |
| Survey | Tower survey mark levelled to AHD |
| Handover | Commissioning report, certificates, as-built map |
