Low-Cost Flood Gauges
More eyes on the creeks and roads that flood first.
Fill the gaps in your warning network
Low-cost gauges fill the gaps between your main flood warning stations. A non-contact level sensor on a simple aluminium arm reports over the mobile network, with alarms set to the exact level where water reaches a road or a bridge deck.
A level reading is only useful if you know what it means on the ground. We survey the sensor, the creek bed, the road crown and the bridge deck, then set alarm levels for water approaching and crossing the road. Every site gets a report with photos, offsets, survey data and trigger levels, so your team knows exactly what each alarm means.
What we deliver
- Site assessment, with alternatives if a location won’t work
- Mobile (Cat-M1) signal verification on site
- Structure to suit: creek bank, bridge side-mount or culvert top-mount
- Paved target under the sensor so vegetation can’t cause false readings
- Configuration, installation and commissioning
- RTK GNSS survey tying the sensor to AHD and local survey marks
- Flood awareness signage and keyed locks

Project snapshot
Low-cost gauge network, South East Queensland (2025–2026)
Since April 2025 we’ve installed and surveyed a growing network of low-cost gauges for a South East Queensland council, filling blind spots between the existing flood warning stations. Sites range from creek banks to bridge and culvert crossings, each with a structure built to the same standard as a main-road install.
| Sensor | Non-contact level sensor, 7 m range |
| Structures | Creek bank, bridge side-mount, culvert top-mount |
| Telemetry | Cat-M1 (LTE-M) mobile network |
| Survey | RTK GNSS, GDA2020, tied to State survey marks |
| Alarms | Set from surveyed road and deck levels |
| Security | Keyed locks, council awareness stickers |
| Reporting | Site report with offsets and trigger levels |
